Here are what people have to say:

Bobby Kelly
Primary School Teacher, Reeds UK

I first met Marti in 2016 and since then I’ve really enjoyed working with her to support science learning in school. Her SciencEd videos have become a regular part of our teaching at VIS.  They are practical, engaging and always at the right level for both students and teachers. They make it easy to bring hands-on, inquiry-based science into classrooms. Working with Marti has been a great experience and has made a real difference to how I approach science and inquiry learning in my classroom.”

Tracy Firth
Founder of Cherish: Growing Healthy Young Minds.

When it comes to making complex science topics experiential, easy-to-understand and a lot of fun, Marti is on a whole other level. I honestly don’t know anyone else who brings science alive for children in the way that Marti does. Children absolutely love Marti’s lessons and develop a much deeper level of understanding of quite complex science because of her fun and experiential approach. Marti’s knowledge and passion make her quite simply the best science teacher I have ever met.

Anika Sommer
IB PYP Coordinator, Singapore

“As part of our school science curriculum review, we rewrote some of the units of inquiry to align with the NGSS standards. Some of the content was new to me. Marti wanted the new units to be successful, but she also wanted to empower the teachers to be able to learn unit content and teach the units going forward. As Science coach, in the first year, she taught the units and we observed. In the second year we co-taught the units and in the third year, I was able to teach the units on my own. I found this to be an excellent model, and I learned a lot. Marti has an unbelievable passion for Science and the environment. She helps students to love Science and she helps teachers to teach it better. Working with her was some of the best professional development I have had as a teacher.”

Cristina Silvestre,
Primary School Teacher, Domeny School, Girona, Spain

“Ms Hendrichs offered a workshop at Domeny school to Primary teachers in Girona (Spain), about how to work a pond project, implement related lessons using the scientific method and develop STEM challenges. She also worked with us in the classroom using the co-teaching approach. It was a very valuable and enriching experience for us.”

Tini Prato-Frik, Mag. Phil
Grade 2 Classroom Teacher

“Marti — or, as many students call her, “Ms. Smarti” — was fundamental in making VIS the first Eco-School in Austria and continues to inspire schools around the world through her Eco-Schools work. She is an exceptional educator whose passion for green STEAM, sustainability, and hands-on learning transforms classrooms into spaces where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking thrive.
I’ve had the privilege of working with Marti on multiple STEAM initiatives. She goes far beyond supporting teachers — she actively facilitates projects, empowers students, and helps teachers integrate STEAM into their curriculum while connecting learning to real-world sustainability challenges. From designing a “smell detector” to explore how the brain processes scent, to building self-supporting Kapla arches linked to a unit on the Romans, her projects spark innovation, problem-solving, and meaningful learning.
Marti’s guidance inspires students to think critically, act sustainably, and see the connections between creativity, curriculum, and the wider world, making her a truly extraordinary STEAM educator and Eco-Schools expert.”

Lisa Edwards,
Primary School Classroom Teacher, Vienna International School, Austria

SciencEd online is a valuable resource which helps children engage in scientific research and build their skills as young scientists. The videos follow the Scientific Method, supporting children as they consider scientific questions and make hypotheses, set up and conduct experiments, and record and discuss their results. The visual element of the videos is highly engaging and really helps children unpack the scientific concepts being explored. Many connected concepts help children build on previous findings. Through the videos, our students have been able to build lists of ‘expert scientific words’ which they have transferred across activities and used to communicate their knowledge. It’s been wonderful to see them build confidence as scientists and really enjoy exploring the world through scientific research!

The SciencEd online videos not only support student engagement but also support teachers in scaffolding scientific research through experiments. Teachers who perhaps have not had much experience of conducting experiments in the classroom are well supported, as the experiments are easy to follow and prepare for. The expert knowledge provided through the ‘making conclusions’ feature of the videos helps teachers build their own scientific understandings and have meaningful discussions with their students.

The SciencEd experiments are also connected to STEM initiatives, where children can transfer their knowledge and consider the importance of science and other disciplines in our approach to the environment and climate.

Marti Hendrichs has worked closely with teams at our school to build science units, supporting team planning and a collaborative approach to making best-fit, meaningful experiments. Teams have talked through what is working well and how we can continue to improve the format of experiments and information provided.  “

Marianna Ntella,
Secondary School Music Teacher, Trikala Greece

During the visit of the 6th Junior High School of Trikala to Vienna International School under Erasmus+/KA122, among many interesting activities, Marti and a group of her students guided the visiting students in the construction of feeders for small birds, making them understand how important it is to take care of the birds that migrate through countries like Greece. Our students happily constructed the project assigned to them and expressed their desire to do so when returning to Greece, adopting a new good practice. Marti, with her methodical approach and wonderful energy, was an inspiration for us teachers and for our students. Thank you very much!!

Tzeli Krystallo,
Special Education Maths’ Teacher.

Mrs. Marti, a tireless person with a passion for her work, played a decisive role in the learning process. She implemented cross-curricular learning where almost all subjects, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography, language, were utilized for the results of the projects. She utilized modern pedagogical methods and created a supportive, inclusive environment. She encouraged, together with the teachers of the 6th Junior High school of Trikala, the participation of all students with the aim of promoting the free expression of ideas, essentially contributing to their all-round development. She is an educational inspiration for students and teachers alike!
